TYPES OF LANDS   

Some basic types of lands in Tulunadu are AGARA, HIRIY-AGARA, UPPIN-AGARA (Salt-Pan)

BAYALU : It’s a low lying land which is best suited for

cultivation, having abundence of water & producing 2 to 3 crops of rice.

   

HADAHU : It’s a table land or simply a plateau.

HADALU : It’s actually a waste Rice-field.

HAKKALU : It’s an elevated piece of ground covered with brushwood or simply a piece of dry Land.

HOLA-GADDE : It’s a land for wet as well as dry cultivation.

HALI : It’s just a plot of field.

KAMBALA-GADDE : It’s a field in which buffalo race takes place.

MAJALU : It’s a field in which a single crop of rice can be raised. The land is higher than Bayalu but lower than Bettu.

MAKKI: Worst kind of land yielding one crop.

BIDIVADIYA, HUNISE-ADIYE, TENGIN-ADIYA, HOYIMANNA-MAKKI:  They are the makki lands on which bamboo, tamarind, coconut and makki covered with sandy soil are grown .

 

 

LAND OWNERS AND AGRICULTURAL LABOURERS                                                      

MULAKARA: They are the original proprietors of the land.

GENI KARA: He is one who has taken up land for cultivation either on rent or on contract basis.

URITTI KARA: He who is in enjoyment of gifted land .

OKKALU: They are the tenants of the soil and professional agriculturists.

KIL OKKALU: They are the servants working on the land under the Okkalu.

HOLEYALU,HENNALU: They are the lowest cadre of males and females working on the lands.
